    St Lucia Overview

    One of the Windward Islands, St Lucia was named after Saint Lucy of Syracuse by French colonizers in the seventeenth century. The island boasts many popular tourist sites including a drive-in volcano, botanical gardens and sulphur springs.

    The interior of the St Lucia island offers a rainforest and beautiful scenery that is perfect for hikers with rolling hills that give way to impressive volcanic mountains. The famous twin peaks of the Piton mountains have been compared to pyramids and are one of the island's most distinctive features.

    St Lucia offers a wide range of hotels and many wonderful beaches. Travellers can experience wonderful sailing around the island, and excelllent scuba diving sites and facilities.

    The island is a wonderful destination to experience Caribbean culture and many travellers return to the island to visit the capital Castries and the beautiful beaches of Soufriere, Marigot Bay and Gros Islet.
